Brief
To celebrate World Heritage Day 2017 as part of the Year of History, Heritage and Archeology, we were invited to support our client DigIt! 2017 and their partners, Event Scotland in delivering a digital engagement event spectacular in some of the most remote parts of Scotland.
Our remit for this was to:
-
Work with communities in the Outer Hebrides and showcase the ways in which digital tools could be used to teach History, Heritage and Architecture
-
Raise awareness of the global importance of the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site, St Kilda
-
Provide interactive, engaging and enjoyable hands-on experiences of using digital tools for learning and connecting learners in remote communities
Product
In keeping with the #ScotlandIn Six theme for World Heritage Day, and building upon our St Kilda Minecraft project, our events team developed an ambitious engagement plan to visit six key sites on the Western Isles to engage with as wide an audience as possible, and to connect with as many different types of learner as possible. The event trail included:
-
An engagement at the site for the new St Kilda Visitor Centre
-
Activities at the Callanish Standing Stones Visitor Centre
-
Engagement activities at an Iron Age House and Museum
-
A Minecraft workshop for parents and children at Lewes Castle Museum and
-
A 'pub quiz' engagement event for adults at An Lantair Arts Centre
