build it scotland

Brief

Our Client, the BBC, approached us to work on a nationwide digital engagement project that would inspire children in Scotland to develop creative skills using digital technologies.

The project was developed to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design as part of a a larger digital engagement programme, Make It Digital.  Therefore, the brief from the client was to use digital tools to enable children not just to learn about Scotland's built environment, but to be co-creators of it.  The short film below captures the impact of the project by speaking to some the children and teachers involved.

Our team of builders developed a 1:1 scale Minecraft map of Scotland and  school children from around the country were invited to build landmarks that were of personal, or local significance and contribute these to the national Minecraft Build It map.

A series of events were delivered to support teachers and children in using the technology.  A final showcase event enabled children to 3D print their designs which included Stirling Castle, the Forth Bridges, Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies.
